The invention concerns a telecommunication system antenna for communicating, in transmission and in reception, with a wide zone, of variable position relative to the antenna. Said antenna comprises motors (80, 82) for pointing the antenna towards the zone, and radiating elements (74, 76) associated with control means to modify the radiating diagram according to the relative position of the antenna and the zone. The invention is particularly applicable to an antenna designed to be installed on a telecommunication satellite. During its travel, the antenna can remain constantly in communication with an earth zone ranging several hundreds of kilometres.

L'antenne est destinée à communiquer, en émission et en réception, avec une zone étendue, de position variable par rapport à l'antenne. Elle comprend des moteurs (80, 82) pour pointer l'antenne vers la zone, et des éléments rayonnants (74, 76) associés à des moyens de commandes pour modifier le diagramme de rayonnement en fonction de la position relative de l'antenne et de la zone. L'invention s'applique notamment à une antenne destinée à être installée à bord d'un satellite de télécommunication. Au cours du déplacement du satellite l'antenne peut rester constamment en communication avec une zone de la terre d'une étendue de l'ordre de plusieurs centaines de kilomètres.
