A method and system for disseminating information to subscribers of a mobile telecommunications network (30) from at least one information source (20) containing data which is updated continuously or at intervals. The system includes a message distribution centre (10) connected to at least one information source (20) and arranged to process the data to generate information messages for a particular subscriber in accordance with a customer- defined profile of the subscriber, the information messages being transmitted to the subscriber's mobile terminal (32) in the form of short message service (SMS) text messages. The information messages may be transmitted at predetermined times, or upon the occurrence of a predetermined event or may be dependent upon the subscriber's location. A particular subscriber may also request information from the information source (20) at any time, from any location or based on an event and receive the information, as well as the above-mentioned information messages, in a menu-driven format.
L'invention a trait à une technique ainsi qu'au système correspondant permettant de diffuser une information à des abonnés appartenant à un réseau de télécommunications à postes mobiles (30) à partir d'au moins une source d'informations (20) contenant des données mises à jour sans interruption ou périodiquement. Ce système comporte un centre de distribution des messages (10) relié à au moins une source d'informations (20) et conçu pour traiter les données afin de produire des messages d'information destinés à un abonné particulier selon un profil de l'abonné, lequel profil a été défini par le client, ces messages d'information étant adressés au terminal mobile de l'abonné (32) sous la forme de messages textuels du service de messages courts (SMS). Ces messages d'information peuvent être adressés à des moments prédéterminés, en cas d'événement prédéterminé ou bien en fonction de l'emplacement de l'abonné. Un abonné particulier peut également demander une information à la source d'informations (20), à n'importe quel moment comme de n'importe où, soit encore, ponctuellement, en raison d'un événement donné et recevoir l'information demandée ainsi que les messages d'information susmentionnés sous un format piloté par menu.
