A telemedicine system for monitoring chronic conditions such as asthma or diabetes includes an electronic measurement device such as an electronic peak expiratory flow meter or an electronic blood glucose meter, connected to a GPRS cellular telephone. The cellular telephone automatically receives, formats and transmits the data on acquisition by the medical device to a remote server. The server may acknowledge the data and make the data available to a clinician. The server may also analyse the data and provide automatic alerts to the patient and/or clinician in the event of the data causing concern. The formatting and transmission of the data from the telephone to the server occurs in real time as the measurements are taken and is invisible to the patient.
La présente invention a trait à un système télémédical permettant la surveillance de conditions chroniques telles que l'asthme ou le diabète comportant un dispositif de mesure électronique tel qu'un appareil électronique de mesure de débit maximal expiratoire ou un appareil électronique de mesure de la glycémie, relié à un téléphone cellulaire de service général de radiocommunication par paquets. Le téléphone cellulaire reçoit, met en forme et transmet automatiquement les données lors de l'acquisition par le dispositif médical vers un serveur distant. Le serveur peut accuser réception des données et mettre les données à la disposition d'un clinicien. Le serveur peut également analyser les données et fournir des avertissements automatiques au patient et/ou au clinicien au cas où les données sont alarmantes. La mise en forme et la transmission des données en provenance du téléphone vers le serveur s'effectue en temps réel au fur et à mesure des prises des mesures et est invisible au patient.
