Telephone apparatus (10) comprising a base unit (12) and a microphone and loud- speaker combination unit (25) in the form of a so-called headset. The headset (25) is co- operable with the base unit (12) to operate switch means (20) (e.g. to provide an off- line/on-line signal or hang-up signal), and is also provided with mounting means enabling the headset (25) to be used mounted on the user's body, e.g. the ear, for hands-free op- eration of the telephone apparatus. To facil- itate manual holding of the headset unit (25) and its alternate use as a handset, it is pro- vided with manual holding means (30) com- prising an enlargement of the generally cylin- drical boom element (28) extending between the microphone (24) and the earpiece contain- ing speaker (22), this enlargement (30) being externally ribbed, knurled, roughened, or oth- erwise provided with a grippable surface.

Appareil téléphonique (10) comportant une unité de base (12) et une combinaison écouteur/micro sous forme de combiné auriculaire (25). Ledit combiné (25), qui coopère avec l'unité de base (12) pour assurer certaines commutations (20) (signal occupé/libre, ou d'invitation à raccrocher), est également muni d'éléments d'accrochage au corps de l'usager, p. ex. à son oreille, permettant de l'utiliser mains libres. Pour en faciliter la préhension par la main et l'utilisation comme combiné à main, on munit le combiné (25) d'un moyen de saisie (30) consistant en un renflement de la tige (28), en général cylindrique, reliant le micro (24) à l'écouteur (22). Ce renflement (30) est extérieurement rainuré, moleté, rugueux ou doté d'une surface facilitant la prise.
