- 1 - A TELEPHONE APPARATUS ADAPTED TO BE CONNECTED TO SEVERAL TELEPHONE LINES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The apparatus, able to be connected to any one of several telephone lines, saves the user from having to manually select a free line when he wants to make a call. To this end, the apparatus includes a line voltage detector that produces an engaged signal if, when the user picks up a handset to make a call, the line to which the apparatus is connected is engaged by a call with another telephone connected to the same line. A control circuit of the apparatus makes use of this engaged signal to connect the apparatus to another line.
