On receiving voice data from a subscriber accommodated in a broadband network, a terminal adaptor separately puts the voice data in cells in 8-bit units every 125 µs separately, and transmits the cells by a remote switching unit in the broadband network to subscriber terminal equipment. The subscriber terminal equipment accommodates and processes each item of 8-bit data in 24 channels in the PCM format, puts in cells the PCM-formatted data in 24 channels, and sends the cells sequentially to a broadband network transmission line through the remote switching unit. On receiving the above described data in cells, an adaptor provided between the broadband network and an existing telephone network converts the data to the PCM transmission format, and sends them to the existing telephone network after adding a signaling bit to them.

Sur réception de données vocales d'un abonné servi par un réseau à large bande, un adaptateur de terminal met séparément les données vocales dans des cellules d'unités de 8 bits toutes les 125µs, et, au moyen d'une unité distante de commutation, transmet ces cellules sur le réseau à large bande à un équipement terminal d'abonné. L'équipement terminal d'abonné reçoit et traite chaque élément de données 8 bits en format PCM dans 24 canaux, met dans des cellules les données de format PCM des 24 canaux et envoie les cellules en séquences à une ligne de transmission de réseau à large bande par l'intermédiaire de l'unité distante de commutation. Lorsque les données précitées sont reçues dans des cellules, un adaptateur disposé entre le réseau à large bande et un réseau téléphonique existant convertit les données en format de transmission PCM puis les envoie au réseau téléphonique existant après y avoir ajouté un bit de signalisation.
