- 13 - Abstract Title: Telephone Systems A cordless telephone system has a plurality of base stations (10,12) communicating with portable handsets (14,15,18) by burst mode duplex, ie alternate periods of transmission and reception. Synchronisation between two adjacent base stations is achieved by means at one station which determine the relative phases of the transmit/receive bursts at the two stations and alter the frequency of the burst clock at the one station.
