In a telescopic aerial ladder system comprising a telescopic aerial ladder component comprising a plurality of ladder sections telescopically coupled together for in and out movement with respect to each other between an extended configuration and a retracted configuration, said telescopic aerial ladder component comprising a base ladder section and an extensible terminal ladder section having a distal end, said base ladder section being mounted on a support component for selective movement of said telescopic aerial ladder component, an actuation component operable to selectively induce movement of the telescopic aerial ladder component, a work station mounted at said distal end a control component mounted at said work station for the selective control from the work station of said actuation component, wherein at least one of said ladder sections is an electrically insulated section the improvement wherein said actuation component and said control component are interconnected by non-electrical conductor means whereby said control component is able to induce operation of said actuation component without electrical connection therebetween.
