26.2.79 1 PHN.9167 ABSTRACT: A television camera comprising a pick-up tube provided with a directly heated cathode which is connected to a heater voltage source which is implemented as a pulse voltage source, the pulse heater voltage being present in at least a portion of the line blanking periods and absent in the line scanning periods. This enables the use in the pick-up tube of a directly heated cathode which has a higher efficiency between the electron emission and heater voltage power than an indirectly heated cathode.
