A television distribution network (12) for enabling a user to download Internet web pages related to the currently viewed television broadcast via channel hyperlinking. User sends channel hyperlink requests through upstream channel (22) to network headend (14) by actuating web button on remote controller (23). The headend is interfaced to Internet Service Provider or ISP (30) for downloading related web pages. The headend uses ID tag with channel and time of request information to identify the location of the information to be downloaded to the user. Preferably, the information is pre-cached from the ISP to a headend cache (31) in advance of the broadcast to facilitate quicker downloading of the information to the user.
On décrit un réseau de télédistribution (12) qui permet à un utilisateur de télécharger depuis Internet, par l'intermédiaire d'une liaison hypermédia, des pages Web se rapportant au contenu d'une émission de télévision en cours de diffusion. L'utilisateur emprunte une voie d'amont (22) et transmet des requêtes de liaison hypermédia à une tête de réseau (14) en appuyant sur une touche web de la télécommande (23). La tête de réseau est interfacée avec un fournisseur d'accès Internet (ISP)(30) pour télécharger des pages web pertinentes. Cette tête de réseau utilise une étiquette d'identification contenant des indications de voie et d'heure relatives à la requête pour identifier l'emplacement des informations à télécharger vers l'utilisateur. De préférence, les informations sont prépositionnées en antémémoire avant l'émission et transférées de la mémoire cache de l'ISP à celle d'une tête de bus (31) pour permettre un téléchargement plus rapide des informations vers l'utilisateur.
