ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A television signal processing system so arranged as to alternately transmit television signals corresponding to a plurality of continuous scanning lines in the vertical direction at every field in the form of a single block or a plurality of blocks, whereby maintaining the compatibility with the existing standard system, the block scanning can easily be converted into the sequential scanning with line frequencies doubled. Thus, the vertical resolution of a reproduced picture can be improved.
