A television display apparatus (10) wherein a white light source (12) emits a beam onto a plurality of dichroic mirrors (14) which split the beam into three beams of the primary colors, then reflects the three primary beams onto three deformable reflective surfaces (44), which again reflect the beams through slits (36) in a non-reflective surface (34), thereby modulating the intensity of the beams. The amount of light passing through the slits (36) is horizontally scanned by one surface of a rotating polygonal mirror (54), then passes through collimating and projection lenses (24, 26) and onto a screen.

L'invention est un appareil d'affichage pour la télévision (10) dans lequel une source de lumière blanche (132) projette un faisceau sur une pluralité de miroirs dichroïques (14) qui divisent le faisceau en trois faisceaux correspondant aux couleurs primaires, et réfléchissent ces trois faisceaux primaires sur trois surfaces réfléchissantes déformables (44) qui projettent ces faisceaux sur des fentes (36) pratiquées dans une surface non réfléchissante (34), ce qui module l'intensité des faisceaux. La lumière qui passe par les fentes (36) est déviée par l'une des faces d'un miroir polygonal tournant (54), puis est projetée sur un écran via une lentille collimatrice (24) et une lentille de projection (26).
