ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A fuel injection pump has a metering valve for controlling the delivery of fuel by the pump and a speed- responsive mechanical governor for adjusting the metering valve. The governor provides a force tending to close the metering valve and acts through a lever against the bias of an idle speed control spring. The lever engages the idle speed control spring through a cantilever mounted flat leaf spring with a flat bi-metal leaf inter- posed between the lever and the leaf spring. The bi- metal leaf increases the biasing force of the idle speed control spring when temperature deviates from a preset temperature in either direction.
