A temperature compensating system (10) for a closed system, such as damping system (12), in which fluid is subject to temperature increases and acocmpanying volume increases. The temperature compensation system provides a compressible member (40) within a temperature compensation volume, and a barrier (46) restricting the entry of fluid to the volume. When the fluid volume increases as a result of temperature increases, fluid seeps past the barrier into the temperature compensation volume to compress the compressible member and thus increase the total volume available to the fluid in the closed system. The increased volume reduces pressure buildup that would otherwise occur, and thereby tends to maintain a steady pressure within the closed system. Dynamic or high speed fluid flows are restricted by the barrier or other restriction, inhibiting such flows from passing into the volume. The barrier or other restriction thus tends to prevent the temperature compensating system from interfering with normal functioning of the system while maintaining a steady internal pressure therein.

L'invention concerne un système (10) de compensation thermique pour un circuit fermé tel qu'un circuit (12) amortisseur dans lequel le liquide subit des augmentations de température associées à des augmentations de volume. Le système de compensation thermique comprend un élément (40) compressible à l'intérieur d'un volume de compensation thermique, et une barrière (46) restreignant l'entrée du liquide dans ce volume. Lorsque le volume de liquide augmente en raison d'une hausse de la température, le liquide s'infiltre au travers de la barrière, arrive dans l'espace de compensation thermique et comprime l'élément compressible augmentant ainsi le volume total disponible pour le liquide dans le circuit fermé. Cette augmentation du volume permet de réduire l'augmentation de pression potentielle, et tend ainsi à maintenir un pression stable dans un circuit fermé. La barrière ou d'autres moyens restrictifs retiennent les flux dynamiques ou très rapides et empêchent le passage de tels flux dans le volume de compensation. La barrière ou les autres moyens restrictifs tendent ainsi à empêcher le système de compensation thermique d'interférer avec le fonctionnement normal du circuit tout en maintenant une pression interne stable à l'intérieur de ce dernier.
