Abstract of the Disclosure A temperature detecting unit extends, via a cable, from an inside wall of a microwave oven and has a probe formed at an end portion thereof for insertion into an object such as food items to be heated, the probe detects the temperature of the object during the heating, so as to produce a signal indicative of the temperature of the object. The cable of the temperature detecting unit is formed of comparatively thin wires having sufficient flexibility and durability so as to facilitate the manipulation of the unit during inserting thereof into the object.
