This invention is a temperature gauge (30) for surgical drills (15) of the type having a surgical head (18) to which a drill bur (20) having a throughbore extending to its drill bur tip is removably mounted, and includes a temperature sensor (36) receivable in the drill bur throughbore for sensing and measuring the temperature at the drill bur tip and a thermometer (31) coupled to the temperature sensor (36) for displaying the temperature at the drill bur tip. A method of measuring the temperature of the drill site in the bone of a patient is also disclosed.
L'invention concerne un indicateur de température (30) pour un foret chirurgical (15) du type ayant une tête (18) portant une fraise (20) amovible avec un trou traversant (20) s'étendant jusqu'à l'extrémité de la fraise. Un capteur thermique (36) vient se loger dans le trou traversant de la fraise pour détecter et mesurer la température à l'extrémité de la fraise. Un thermomètre (31) est couplé au capteur thermique (36), pour afficher la température mesurée à l'extrémité de la fraise. On décrit également un procédé de mesure de la température de l'os d'un patient, au cours du percement.
