A system and method for detecting hot spots in a rotary regenerative air preheater which compensates for normal variations in the temperature of the incoming hot gas stream or incoming cold air stream. Alarm conditions are based on calculations relating to the average and maximum outlet gas or outlet air over a period of time compared to the air and gas inlet temperature. The alarm is triggered if the maximum values deviate from the time averaged values more than a selected percentage.

L'invention porte sur système et un procédé de détection des points chauds d'un réchauffeur préliminaire d'air rotatif à régénération, procédé qui permet de compenser les variations de la température du courant gazeux chaud entrant ou de l'écoulement d'air froid entrant. Des conditions d'alarme sont basées sur des calculs se rapportant à la température moyenne et maximum du gaz ou de l'air sortant sur une durée comparée à la température d'admission de l'air et du gaz. L'alarme se déclenche si les valeurs maximum s'écartent des valeurs à moyenne temporelle de plus d'un pourcentage choisi.
