ABSTRACT Resurfacing of pavement areas (particularly recreational courts, like tennis courts 2, 3), is accomplished in an effective and fast manner. For a tennis court (2), a mass of acrylic resurfacing material (191) is disposed along one outer boundary (6) of the court, and the material is spread and smoothed with blade (112) and brush (113) components of a resurfacing machine (30). Tape is applied over the court boundary lines prior to resurfacing, and removed after resurfacing, so that it is not necessary to redo the boundary lines after resurfacing. The machine resurfaces the court in a single pass in a single direction (194), although multiple passes may be made, and in other directions, to apply more than one coat. Side-by-side courts may be especially effectively done. The machine comprises a frame (31-33), a number of wheels (86) supporting the frame, a drive (35', 46) for effecting movement of the frame, and free floating flexible blades (112) mounted on and extending along a front face (40') of the frame. Free floating brushes (123) are mounted on and extend along a rear face (41') of the frame, as well as brushes (113) just behind and parallel to the blades (112). Brushes (131) overlapping the blades may be mounted along the front of the frame. The frame comprises a center section (31) and two separable side sections (32, 33), and when used for a tennis court each section has a length of about 20 feet.
