A tensioner has a base plate and a pivot arm. A first end of the pivot arm is pivotally mounted to the base plate for rotation about a first axis. A spring biases the pivot arm to rotate in a tensioning direction. A push rod assembly is pivotally mounted to the second end of the pivot arm. The push rod assembly is rotatable about a second axis extending parallel to the first axis. The push rod assembly frictionally engages the pivot arm generating frictional forces counter acting and damping the spring bias. When the tensioning guide is forced to rotate in the tensioning direction, the acting moment arm of the push rod force causing the guide to rotate towards the endless drive, is considerable longer at the end of the tensioning stroke than in the beginning of the stroke.

L'invention concerne un appareil à tension comportant une plaque de base et un bras pivotant. Une première extrémité du bras pivotant est montée pivotante sur la plaque de base afin de permettre une rotation autour d'un premier axe. Un ressort oriente le bras pivotant de sorte qu'il tourne dans le sens de tension. Un ensemble tige poussoir est monté pivotant sur la seconde extrémité du bras pivotant. Cet ensemble peut être mis en rotation autour d'un second axe s'étendant parallèlement au premier. L'ensemble tige poussoir met en prise par friction le bras pivotant entraînant des forces de friction qui neutralisent et atténuent l'orientation du ressort. Lorsque le guide de tension est forcé à tourner dans le sens de tension, le bras du moment d'actionnement de la force de la tige poussoir entraîne le guide à tourner en direction de l'entraînement sans fin, sensiblement plus long à la fin de la contrainte de tension qu'au début.
