Based on a preferential method of production, this terminal (SLTE1) consists of two transmission devices (TA1, TB1) each including: means of extracting a signal (FERF1', FERF2') from each of these two SDH multiplexes, which is capable of indicating a fault at the remote end of the link; and means of receiving two SDH (D1a, D2a) multiplexes and multiplexing them with service data specific to the secured link into a single multiplex capable of being transmitted on the first line (L1), by inserting the two fault signals (FERF1', FERF2') and two additional fault signals (FERF3', FERF4') into these service data, these two additional signals being provided by the other transmission device; - a switch (SW1) to transmit to the first line (L1) one of the two multiplexes provided respectively by the two transmission devices.

Selon un mode de réalisation préférentiel, ce terminal (SLTE1) comporte : - deux dispositifs d'émission (TA1, TB1) comportant chacun : -- des moyens pour extraire, de chacun de ces deux multiplex SDH, un signal (FERF1', FERF2') susceptible d'indiquer une défaillance à l'extrémité éloignée de la liaison; -- des moyens pour recevoir deux multiplex SDH (D1a,D2a), et les multiplexer avec des données de service propres à la liaison sécurisée, en un seul multiplex susceptible d'être émis sur une première ligne (L1), en insérant dans ces données de service les deux signaux de défaillance (FERF1', FERF2') et deux signaux supplémentaires de défaillance (FERF3', FERF4'), ces deux signaux supplémentaires étant fournis par l'autre dispositif d'émission ; - un commutateur (SW1) pour transmettre à la première ligne (L1) l'un des deux multiplex fournis respectivement par les deux dispositifs d'émission.
