There is provided a method for terminating a gas phase polymerization of a compound selected from the group consisting of a conjugated diene, a vinyl- substituted aromatic compound, and mixtures thereof, in a polymerization vessel in the presence of a catalyst, and optionally in the presence of an inert particulate material, comprising introducing a kill agent selected from the group consisting of an alcohol having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, an alkyl or cycloaklyl monoether, ammonia, water, an alkyl or aryl amine, and mixtures thereof.

L'invention concerne un procédé destiné à achever la polymérisation en phase gazeuse d'un composé sélectionné dans le groupe constitué par un conjugué diène, un composé aromatique à substitution vinyle, et leurs mélanges, cette polymérisation étant réalisée dans une cuve de polymérisation en présence d'un catalyseur, et éventuellement en présence d'un matériau particulaire inerte. Le procédé consiste à introduire un agent neutralisant sélectionné dans un groupe constitué par un alcool portant de 1 à 20 atomes de carbone, un monoéther d'alkyle ou de cycloalkyle, de l'ammoniac, de l'eau, une alkylamine ou une arylamine, et leurs mélanges.
