ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed are reaction products of terpene compounds and 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole of the formula (II) Image (II) wherein R represents a pinene residue having the structural formula Image or limonene residue having the structural formula Image and R2 may be same as R or hydrogen, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkylthio, phenylalkyl and alkylated phenylalkyl groups, some of which are novel. The reaction products are useful as antiwear agents and antioxidants in lubricating compositions.
