ABSTRACT Novel epoxyterpenylsilane containing chiral centers have been prepared in a two step synthesis. Terpene such as myrcene, dihydromyrcene, limonene, 5 ethylidene-2- norbornene and 5-vinyl-2-norborene are first epoxidized to the terpene oxide which is then condensed with alkoxy or alkylalkoxy silanes in the presence of a hydrosilation catalyst. These compounds are useful in a number of applications as, for example, polymer additives, paint additives, stabilizers, bonding and coupling agents.
