A C8-C10 branched tertiary alkyl primary amine mixture is disclosed which is useful as a multi-functional additive in fuels, lubricants, and dyes. The subject amines are prepared by reacting an acid, a nitrile, a C8-C10 substrate in the presence of water to form a first intermediate product; further reacting thefirst intermediate with an acid in the presence of water to form a second intermediate product and neutralizing the second intermediate with a basic compound to form the product.

Ce type d'amine est préparé en faisant réagir un acide, un nitrile et un substrat C8-C10 en présence d'eau pour former un premier intermédiaire, puis en faisant réagir le premier intermédiaire avec un acide en présence d'eau pour former un second intermédiaire, et en neutralisant le second intermédiaire avec un composé basique pour aboutir au produit final.
