ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Tertiary amino acid, tertiary amino acid-nitrile and amine salts of tertiary amino acid compositions have been found to be effective as delayed action catalysts for polyurethane synthesis. They are particularly effective when used in combi- nation with an organometallic such as organo tin composition. Typically, the tertiary amino acids are formed by reacting a pri- mary or secondary amine with an aldehyde and disubstituted acid to form a Mannich adduct. The amine salts are formed by reacting the resulting Mannich acid adduct with an amine. A process for the polymerization of a urethane forming composition is disclosed along with a delayed action catalyst used in the process.
