ABSTRACT A test carrier for the analytical determination of components of body fluids includes a carrier layer on which is arranged several test layers arranged for liquid exchange therebetween; on the carrier layer are arranged an application zone for the application of a sample of the body fluid, a detection zone for the production of a detectable signal characteristic for the analytical deter- mination which contains a reaction layer, and an absorption zone with an absorptive layer of an absorbent material, in this sequence next to one another, between the application zone and the absorption zone is present a capillary-active trans- port path which connects the application zone and the absorption zone. The reaction layer is suit- ably arranged parallel to the transport path between the application zone and the absorption zone in such a manner that it is in liquid contact with a liquid transported in the transport path.
