ABSTRACT The present invention relates to novel reagents which are useful in a sensitive diagnostic test to detect the presence of barbiturates in body fluids. The reagents are aminoaryl esters and amino-lower alkyl amides of carboxy substituted barbiturates, which are covalently coupled via an amide linkage to a carboxylated latex polymer.
