A method for predicting long-term electrical insulation properties of composite materials in a moist environment. The method including the steps of providing a specimen, and testing the specimen to determine moisture content values and leakage current values at predetermined time intervals. The method further including the steps of determining a moisture-leakage current factor from the moisture content values and leakage current values, and using the moisture-leakage current factor to determine electrical insulation properties of the specimen.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de prévoir les propriétés d'isolation électrique à long terme de matériaux composites dans un environnement humide. Ce procédé consiste à fournir un échantillon, puis à soumettre cet échantillon à un essai pour obtenir des valeurs de teneur en concentration et de courant de fuite à des intervalles de temps prédéterminés. Le procédé consiste également à obtenir un facteur humidité-courant de fuite à partir des valeurs de teneur en humidité et de courant de fuite, puis à utiliser le facteur humidité-courant de fuite pour déterminer les propriétés d'isolation électrique de l'échantillon.
