ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Wearing apparel headgear has a wide variety of styles for both adults and children. When worn they are prone to being blown off. This is particularly true for caps with peaks used in sports activities and for hats with brims used for dress. In this invention a tether cord is used in which one end is clipped onto the headpiece and the other end is anchored to the upper body clothing by a clip. Alternately the two ends of the tether cord may be clipped to the headpiece and the loop passed under the chin. The lower end of the loop may be either clipped to the clothing or closed tightly under the chin with a slip ring. The risk of losing a blown off hat, the need to secure a cap by hand, and the disconcerting fear of a hat blowing off are all eliminated.
