ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel 1-acylaminomethyl-tetrahydroisoquinolines of the formula Image wherein R1 is alkyl of 1 - 4 carbon atoms, cyclohexyl, cyclohexenyl, unsub- stituted phenyl, phenyl substituted by halogen or nitro, thienyl, pyridyl, tetrahydropyranyl, or tetrahydrothiopyranyl; wherein R2, R3 and R4 each are H or methyl; wherein R5 and R6 each are H, methyl or methoxy; and wherein R7 is H or -CO-CH2-X wherein X is Cl, Br or I; with the proviso that if R1 is phenyl, at least on of R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 is other than H; and physiologically acceptable acid addition salts thereof are provided herein. They may be prepared by a specified monoacylating reaction to pro- duce the 1-acylaminomethyl-tetrahydroisoquinoline as defined above wherein R7 is H; and optionally thereafter, whenever it is desired to produce the 1-acylaminomethyl-tetrahydroisoquinoline as defined above, wherein R7 is -CO-CH2-X, by a specified acylating reaction on the ring nitrogen atom of the thus-produced compound. Such compounds are useful as anti-helmintics.
