Abstract The invention relates to tetrahydropyridinyldibenz- azepine derivatives of the formula I (I) Image wherein R1 is a substituent selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, and lower alkyl; R2 is selected from hydrogen, and unsubstituted or hydr- oxy substituted lower alkyl or lower alkenyl; X is 0, S, or CH2; Y is HC=CH or S; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. These compounds are dopamine antagonists and are there- fore useful for the treatment of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia, schizophreniform disorder, delus- ional disorder, acute manic states, senile and presenile psychotic states, toxic psychoses, psychoactive-sub- stance induced psychoses, symptoms of severe restless- ness, hyperexcitability and anxiety, motor disorders, among which Tourette's disorder and Huntington's chorea, nausea and vomiting, hiccup and dizziness.
