RCA 72,837 TEXTILE DYEING PROCESS Abstract of the Disclosure A continuous process for dyeing a carpet comprising the sequential steps of: covering the tufted side of a carpet with a viscous water-soluble gum, applying drops of a less viscous gum to the viscous gum-wetted tufts, applying drops of a viscous dye to the tufted surface, applying a less viscous dye over the entire tufted surface of the carpet, and fixing the dyes to the carpet. Prior to performing the above-listed steps, the carpet may be pre-wet and vibrated, or pre-wet, vibrated and then compressed in a pattern of selected spaced regions.
