A textile product with enhanced flame and/or smoke retardant properties and a method of forming the same is disclosed. The textile product is comprised of a textile material having a primary layer or backing with intumescent particles coated, sprayed, sprinkled, or otherwise applied to the upper surface thereof. Additionally or alternatively, the particles may be incorporated into the tufting primary or backing. The intumescent particles may also be complexed with additional agents, such as antimicrobial agents, softening agents, pliability agent, stain resistant agents, waterproofing agents, static resistance agents and combinations thereof.

L'invention concerne un produit textile possédant des propriétés ignifuges et/ou retardatrices de fumée améliorées, ainsi qu'un procédé de fabrication associé. Le produit textile est constitué d'un matériau textile présentant une première couche ou un support, des particules intumescentes étant revêtues, pulvérisées, arrosées ou appliquées par d'autres moyens sur la surface supérieure de celui-ci. De plus ou de manière alternative, les particules peuvent être incorporées dans la première couche de tuftage ou le support. Les particules intumescentes peuvent être complexées avec des agents supplémentaires, tels que des agents anti-microbiens, des agents adoucissants, des agents de souplesse, des agents résistants aux taches, des agents d'imperméabilisation, des agents de contre-pression statique et des combinaisons de ces agents.
