A method of making a textured nonwoven composite material. The method includes the steps of: providing a hydraulically entangled web containing a fibrous component and a nonwoven layer of substantially continuous filaments; applying a binder material to at least one side of the web; and compacting the web along at least one of its planar dimensions to increase its thickness and impart texture. The binder material may be an aqueous mixture including a curable latex polymer, a pigment, and a cure promoter. Also disclosed is a textured nonwoven composite material made of a hydraulically entangled web including a fibrous component; a nonwoven layer of substantially continuous filaments; and regions containing binder material covering at least a portion of at least one side of the composite material, in which the web has been compacted along at least one of its planar dimensions to increase its thickness and impart texture.
Procédé de production d'un matériau composite non tissé texturé. Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant à produire un bande enchevêtrée de manière hydraulique contenant une composante fibreuse et une couche non tissée de filaments sensiblement continus, à appliquer une matière liante sur au moins une face de la bande et à compacter la bande le long d'au moins une de ses dimensions planes pour augmenter son épaisseur et lui conférer une texture. La matière liante peut être un mélange aqueux comprenant un polymère au latex durcissable, un pigment et un promoteur de durcissement. L'invention concerne également un matériau composite non tissé texturé comprenant une bande enchevêtrée de manière hydraulique renfermant une composante fibreuse; une couche non tissée en filaments sensiblement continus ainsi que des régions contenant une matière liante recouvrant au moins une partie d'au moins une face du matériau composite, la bande ayant été compactée le long d'au moins une de ses dimensions planes pour augmenter son épaisseur et lui conférer une texture.
