ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A stringer for a sliding clasp fastener and a sliding clasp fastener assembly which consists of a pair of mutually cooperating stringers and a sliding clasp where the stringer comprises a tape of asynthetics plastics sheet or foil to which the fastener elements are attached and in which the tape includes a sewing-in zone. The fastener elements are shaped to receive and guide a sliding clasp for sliding movement for opening and closing the fastener and a clasp path is provided on the tape for sliding cooperation of the sliding clasp therewith for additional guiding and support of the sliding clasp in its movement. The sewing-in zone is texturized by the addition of material to the surface of the tape or by mechanically working the tape such as by facilitate or incising, but the texturizing is completely avoided in the clasp path. The clasp path may also be treated to improve and facilitate the sliding movement of the clasp.
