This is a component used to minimize the amount of oils that drip into the element of the barbeque and the coals or lava rocks, therefore allowing even heat thoughout with little or no induced flame in any one particular area. The idea is to allow heat to evenly cook the food and to provide a path for the fluids to travel without dripping onto the hot element, coals, or rocks. Another benefit to this product is to have an oil tray to store all the extra juices. The cooking bed is parallel to the heat element with the heat vents, and the juice channels are set at an approximate 8 degree angle in order for the juices to move to the oil tray. This product, in my mind, should be recommended by code in order to limit the chances of an uncontrollable fire. The grills are set-up as interlocking so that they can be easily connected in pairs or more.
