The design of a traditional water pipe requires the user to suck on an opening in the chamber in order to draw smoke through water. The gravity powered water pipe uses the principal of displacement to accomplish the same task. The addition of a second chamber makes it possible for the user to lower the water level in the first chamber as gravity draws the water from one chamber to the other. The displaced water is used to pull air into the chamber and draw smoke through the water.
