An improved concrete grooving device, hand operated, easily adjusted and comprised of a rectangular or square plate member of a non metallic, light weight, low friction material that when placed on the top surface of freshly poured and leveled concrete reduces the depression left in the concrete on both adjacent sides of the groove being formed. This improved device produces very low capillarity action and low drag coefficient. The need for repetitive passes to finish the concrete's groove are eliminated resulting in minimal bleed water, stronger concrete groove surface and reduced application time. This device provides for mounting replaceable spine or keel type blade(s) of a light weight, low friction, wear resistant material that will produce shallow or deep, radiused shouldered grooves in the surface of concrete as it is being poured and finished. The improved device's embodiment has a groove alignment sight that will work free style or in conjunction with a string line in the process of obtaining straight concrete grooves thus eliminating the use of plank type straight edges to guide the groover. Provision is made for sighting with a pen light style laser dot generator.
