The invention provides methods and compositions relating to identification and use of genetic information from the IL-I gene cluster - including the structure and organization of novel IL-1-like genes found within the IL-I locus as well as polymorphisms and associated haplotypes within these genes. The invention thereby expands the repertoire of useful genetic information available from the IL-I locus - which contains the previously-identified IL-l.alpha., IL-l.beta. and EL- IRN genes, for predicting IL-I associated phenotypes (e.g. increased or decreased risks of insulin resistance associated pathologies) and for treating EL-I haplotype associated insulin resistance associated pathologies.
L'invention concerne des procédés et des compositions liés à l'identification et à l'utilisation d'informations génétiques du groupes de gènes IL-1, telles que la structure et l'organisation de nouveaux gènes de type IL-1 rencontrés sur le locus IL-1, ainsi que des polymorphismes et des haplotypes associés dans ce gène. L'invention permet ainsi d'étendre l'éventail des informations génétiques utiles, issues du locus IL-1, contenant les gènes IL-l.alpha., IL-l.beta. et EL-IRN préalablement identifiés, pour la prévision de phénotypes associés à IL-1 (par ex. risques augmentés ou diminués de pathologies associées à l'insulinorésistance), et le traitement de pathologies associées à l'insulinorésistance liée à l'haploytpe IL-1.
