A process for the preparation of (co)oligomers or (co)polymers is disclosed. The process entails first the preparation of a mixture that contains a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer conforming to HR1C = CR2R3 (M) an oxidizing agent and at least one polymer or oligomer conforming to formula (I), (see formula I) and an optional free radical initiator and then heating the mixture at a temperature in the range of 0°C to 220°C.
