A durable high-quality paper product comprises between 40% and 90% by weight of minerai fiber; between 10% and 60% by weight of cellulose fiber; approximately 3% of a binder agent, such as amphoteric starch; approximately 3% of a retention agent, (e.g. colloidal silica); approximately 1.0 % of an internal sizing agent (e.g. Alkyl Ketene Dimer); and a surface sizing agent. The paper product is manufactured by a process comprising the steps of: pulping cellulose fiber in a conventional manner in a first pulper; pulping an aqueous dispersion of mineral fiber in a second pulper; blending the cellulose and mineral fiber pulps; adding a internal sizing agent to the pulp mixture; adding a retention agent to the pulp mixture; sifting the pulp mixture; adding a binder agent to the sifted pulp mixture; and applying the thus treated pulp mixture onto a moving screen of a conventional paper-making machine.
