The Passive Immobilizer Type Anti-start Device for Classic Cars and Street Rods is a deterrent because those type of vehicles are so easy to hot-wire and therefore are targets for thieves. The Passive Immobilizer consists of two heavy duty automotive relays (see Figure No. 1) for longevity and a small push button. With the ignition key ON when the button is pushed relay R-1 becomes a holding relay which is held by the contact R-1 (normally open) and also holds the relay R-2 and closes contact R-2 thus completing the ignition circuit and enabling the vehicle to start. When the ignition is switched OFF, both relays become de-energized opening contacts R-1 & R-2 thus defeating the ignition. The vehicle cannot be hot wired nor will it start by defeating the ignition lock. A direct over-ride feature is provide. The system always automatically arms itself.
