This invention relates to a means of insuring that nails are applied in the most efficient and effective way possible. This invention improves the method of permanently setting nails to ensure that the vertical drawing forces are opposed to the head of the nail. The unique lateral extension of the head crown caused by the nail head crown flattening during the final placement into the substrate causing the outer edges of the head to be forced outward slightly under the top surface of the wood. The driving die head fits over the nail head crown, with three edges of the nail head fitting into the die, assures that the die and head will remain in that position through out the final setting of the nail. The final 45 degree twist used to set the nail fins and lateral extension of the head is a function of the driver die, and being rotated in a 45 degree spiral.
