YOU REMOVE THE COVER PLATE FROM THE REAR-END YOU ARE WORKING ON, THE CROWN PETRUDES OUT INTO THE COVER THAT YOU HAVE REMOVED. YOU THEN PLACE TILE MACHINED PIECE (THE TANDEM MAKER) IN PLACE OF THE COVER YOU REMOVED. YOU NOW HAVE A REAR-END WITH TWO PINIONS ON EITHER SIDE.
