A b s t r a c t The use of esters as fabric-softening agents Fatty acid ester derived from alkanolamines contain- ing 1, 2 or 3 alkanol groups can be used as fabric-soften- ing agents. In many cases, it is useful if the alkanol- amine esters are used in the form of their salts of inor- ganic or organic acids. The esters are readily biodegrad- able and have a surprisingly good effect.
