Abstract of the Disclosure Novel 1-hydroxyaryl-2-amidoalkylaminoethanol derivatives of the formula: Image wherein A is ethylene or alkyl-substituted ethylene, Q is carbonyl or hydroxymethylene, R1 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl or substituted phenyl, R2 is hydrogen, hydroxymethyl, alkyl or alkanesulphonamido, X is an amidic link and Y is a direct link or an alkylene, alkylenoxy, iminoalkyleneoxy, iminoalkylenecarbonyloxy or imino, and acid addition salts are disclosed as well as processes for their manufacture, pharmaceutical compositions contain- ing them and methods of using them in the treatment of heart failure and other diseases. The compounds possess .beta.-adrenergic stimulant activity. Representative of the compounds disclosed is l-E-hydroxyphenyl-2-(.beta.-iso- butyramidoethyl)aminoethanol.
