THERAPEUTIC BLANKET ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION Animals, particularly horses, suffer from many ailments that may be alleviated by the localized applica- tion of heat, particularly radiant heat. However it is difficult to apply such heat at the desired location due to the difficulty in maintaining a radiant heating pad in position. The present blanket is designed for use either as a full horse blanket, a half blanket or for application to the limbs or a relatively small part of the body. It comprises an outer blanket portion of flexible blanket type material with preferably a waterproof sweat liner secured around the edges only to keep the sweat away from any stitching thereby preventing rotting thereof. A plurality of pockets are provided on the outside or the blanket to hold radiant or resistant heat pads and some of the pockets are selectively and detachably divided by VELCRO (TM) strips so that the heating pad can be located in the most desirable location and can easily be moved from one location to the other. A wiring harness to the pockets is covered by webbing to protect same and this webbing may be attached by VELCRO so that easy access is provided for repair and/or replacement.
