Novel calcium phosphate core particles, methods of making them, and methods of using them as vaccine adjuvants, as cores, as carriers of biologically active material, and as controlled release matrices for biologically active material are disclosed. The core particles may have a surface modifying agent and/or biologically active material, such as antigenic material or natural immunoenhancing factor, polynucleotide material, or therapeutic proteins or peptides, partially coating the particle or impregnated therein. The core particles have a diameter between about 300 nm and about 4000 nm, more particularly between about 300 nm and about 2000 nm, and even more particularly between about 300 nm and about 1000 nm, are substantially spherical in shape, and have a substantially smooth surface.

L'invention se rapporte à de nouvelles particules noyaux de phosphate de calcium, à des procédés de fabrication de ces particules et à des méthodes d'utilisation de ces particules en tant qu'adjuvants de vaccins, noyaux, supports de matière biologiquement active et matrices à libération prolongée pour matière biologiquement active. Ces particules noyaux peuvent comporter un agent modificateur de surface et/ou une matière biologiquement active, telle qu'une matière antigénique ou un facteur naturel renforçant les défenses immunitaires, une matière polynucléotidique, ou des protéines ou peptides thérapeutiques, ladite matière recouvrant partiellement la particule ou imprégnant cette dernière. Ces particules noyaux ont un diamètre compris entre 300 nm environ et 4000 nm environ, particulièrement compris entre 300 nm environ et 2000 nm environ, et plus particulièrement compris entre 300 nm environ et 1000 nm environ. Elles sont sensiblement sphériques et possèdent une surface sensiblement lisse.
