ABSTRACT Particularly but not exclusively for use in an automobile engine compartment a thermal alarm system comprises a permanent magnet which houses a temperature sensor such as a bimetallic strip electrically connectable through a battery to an alarm such as an audible alarm. The magnet is attached to the engine block or head and the audible alarm is positioned in the driver's compartment.
