ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Protective coatings for nickel- and cobalt-base superalloys are obtained by applying to the base metal a bond coating of an alloy of chromium, aluminum, yttrium and nickel or cobalt and applying thereover a thermal barrier coating based on ternary silicate compounds such as CaO.MgO.SiO2 and 3CaO.MgO.2SiO2.
